Key:

  1. Ferrite rod antenna with tuning inductor wound over it.  The black knob controls the variable capacitor for tuning
  2. Radio Frequency amplifier (two stages, each using a single JFET)
  3. Detector, using a p-n junction diode
  4. Audio Amplifier (two stages, each using a single JFET)
  5. Volume control (a potentiometer)
  6. Output stage for loudspeaker: two provided, one based on an op-amp, the other on the specially designed LM386 chip
  7. Loudspeaker (behind panel)
  8. PP3 9 volt battery
