Stuart Haigh graduated from Cambridge with an MEng in Engineering in 1998 and a PhD in 2002 on the effects of liquefaction on piled foundations. This work involved using the SAM earthquake actuator to test scale models on the beam centrifuge comparing results with those obtained by numerical modelling.
Stuart became a Research Associate in March 2002, working on an EPSRC project on the use of in-situ vibro densification as a protection measure for bridge foundations. After 2 months working at C-CORE in Newfoundland, commissioning a new earthquake actuator, Stuart returned to Cambridge to work on the EU funded NEMISREF project.
From 2005 to 2008, Stuart was Senior Engineer at the Schofield Centre, developing equipment for centrifuge and 1-g testing and project-managing the beam centrifuge upgrade, and in November 2008 was appointed as a Lecturer in Geotechnical Engineering.
Stuart was a Fellow of Girton College from 2002 to 2008 and is now a Fellow and Director of Studies in Engineering at Trinity College
